Where is Bloodfields based?
Bloodfields operates as a virtual medical service, which means you can use our services from anywhere in South Africa. Once your blood test request form has been issued, you can visit the laboratory location most convenient for you. If you are based internationally, you may still be able to use the service if you are able to send us your laboratory results for review.
Where do I go for my blood tests?
You can visit the laboratory branch closest to you. Bloodfields works with South Africa’s major accredited laboratory networks, including:

You simply take your blood test request form to the laboratory of your choice.
Which laboratory should I use?
This often comes down to personal preference, location, and cost.
Some clients prefer to use the same laboratory they have used before so that results can be easily compared over time. Others choose based on convenience or pricing.
Is Bloodfields covered by medical aid?
Bloodfields operates as a private service, but many clients are able to submit their invoice to their medical aid for reimbursement.
If your plan includes GP consultations, you may be able to claim part of the consultation fee back. This depends entirely on your specific medical aid plan.
Can Dr Robyn review blood test results I already have?
Yes. If you have recent laboratory results Dr Robyn can review and interpret them as part of an Initial Blood Test Service. The same fee applies, and you will receive the same personalised written report with an action plan.
Why do I need to pay Bloodfields before doing my blood tests?
Before any blood tests are ordered, Dr Robyn Bradfield carefully reviews your health information to determine which tests are relevant for you.
The fee covers the medical assessment, test selection, and professional interpretation of your results. This ensures your testing is personalised and medically appropriate rather than based on generic panels.

How long do results and reports take?
This depends on the tests that need to be performed.
Most laboratory results return within a few days, but once all results are available, they are carefully reviewed and interpreted by Dr Robyn Bradfield.
In most cases, you can expect your full report within 1–2 weeks after completing your blood tests.

What happens if something concerning appears in my results?
If anything in your results requires urgent attention, Dr Robyn Bradfield will contact you directly to discuss the next steps.
Your health and safety are always the priority.
What if I need a physical examination or specialist care?
If your results suggest that further medical assessment is needed, Dr Robyn Bradfield can refer you to a trusted GP, specialist, or medical practice for further evaluation or care.
What if I need treatment or a prescription?
If treatment or medication is appropriate based on your results, a prescription can be issued and sent to you electronically.
How often should I do blood tests?
For generally healthy individuals with no medical conditions, blood tests are often recommended every two years.
From around 45–50 years of age, yearly testing can be helpful to monitor changes over time.
If anything needs closer monitoring, follow-up tests can be arranged with interpretation.
What if I have questions about my results?

How much will my lab tests cost?
Laboratory fees are paid directly to the laboratory and vary depending on the specific tests selected for you. Most clients pay between R2,000 and R6,000+, depending on what is clinically appropriate based on your questionnaire responses.
Dr Robyn will only request tests that are relevant to your individual health profile, so the cost reflects what is genuinely useful for you rather than a fixed package.
What's the difference between the Initial Service, Follow-up Service, and Virtual Consultation?
The Initial Blood Test Service (R1,500) is for new clients and includes the full process from questionnaire through to your written report.
The Follow-up Service (R750) is for existing clients who would like a further round of testing and interpretation, drawing on the health history already on file.
The Virtual Consultation (R1,000 per hour) is an optional video consultation with Dr Robyn to discuss your results from the blood tests, ask questions, or talk through next steps in more depth than the written report allows. Available as an add-on after the Initial or Follow-Up Service whenever you would like a deeper conversation about your health.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
Yes, full and partial refunds are available depending on the stage of the process.
Before completing your health questionnaire, a full refund is available on request. After your questionnaire has been reviewed, a partial refund may be considered at our discretion, since clinical time will already have been invested. Once your laboratory request form has been issued, refunds are no longer possible because the medical work has been completed.

Who runs Bloodfields?
Bloodfields is founded and run by Dr Robyn Bradfield, a medical doctor with a focus on helping individuals better understand their health through thoughtful, personalised blood testing and interpretation.
How is my health data protected?
Bloodfields takes the protection of your health information seriously. All client data is handled in accordance with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the confidentiality requirements of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), under which Dr Robyn Bradfield is registered (HPCSA MP0880159).
Your information is stored within our secure patient portal, which is purpose-built for medical practices. Only Dr Robyn has access to your health records. Your results and reports are shared only with you, and never with third parties without your explicit consent.
How will Dr Robyn contact me?
Most communication happens by email. If anything in your results requires direct discussion, Dr Robyn will reach out by email or phone. Virtual Consultations are conducted via secure video call.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No referral is required. Bloodfields provides the medical review needed to issue an appropriate blood test request.
Do I need to fast before my blood test?
Some blood tests require fasting, while others do not. If fasting is required, Bloodfields will inform you before your test.
Do I receive a copy of my laboratory results?
Yes. You will receive both your laboratory’s raw report and Dr Robyn’s personalised interpretation, which includes a clear breakdown of each result, what it means in the context of your overall health profile, and a written action plan tailored to your findings.
